We decided to go to San Francisco on Sunday since that was going to be the coldest day here. So we headed out about 8 am and took our time getting there. We stopped in Sacramento along the way and did a little walking around in Capitol Park. We got to San Fran around 12:30 and parked in Union Square. We walked through the financial district to the port and then headed up to Pier 39 and then on to Fisherman's Wharf. We went on a boat cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz that was awesome!! It was really choppy on the way out to the bridge, and you know it's good when the captain says Wow! That was by far my favorite part of the trip! We hung around on a pier and caught the sunset and then rode a cable car back up to Union Square and headed back to South Lake. It was a super long day, but it was a ton of fun!
Monday we hung around South Lake and checked out a local beach and headed up the Gondola to see the view.
Then we decided to take a ride around the lake. I've wanted to check out Emerald Bay since I got here and it didn't disappoint! I definitely need a car here next year so I can check this stuff out more often! We made it all the way around the lake, but not quite before it got dark.
Tuesday morning we squeezed in some climbing around in the rocks up at Heavenly and then headed back to Reno. It was the best four days I've had since I came out here! I think it was just the ticket to get me through the next 19 days until the end of the season.
Here's a few pics of the weekend as a preview, I'll be putting a some on my photo blog and a ton of them on my flickr photostream once I get them sorted out and edited.
